Question, when preparing larger motifs to appliqué, do you ever machine stitch pieces of the motif first to form the larger motif?

Lovely tutorial! May I ask where did you get that nifty iron that raises itself when you put it down?

It hadn't occurred to me to use my walking foot for sewing long strips... I'll definitely try that! Another thing you may be able to do is make sure your thread tension is correctly set. If either top or bottom thread tension is too tight it can cause uneven feed.
